Car donation #349.

This nice SUV went to a young mother staying at Churches United.

She previously lived in California where she was living with and caring for her elderly grandmother. When her grandmother passed away, she was taken advantage of by other family members who ultimately kicked she and her kids out with nowhere to go.With little options, she took a bus to Moorhead, where she has a sister living. 

She had to leave her son behind with his father until she was able to get settled and in housing. Upon arrival, she learned that living with her sister was not going to be a viable option so she is staying at Micah's Mission.  Within two weeks of arriving here, she had already found work and enrolled her daughter in school. 

She is committed to her work and is focused on getting back on her feet.Her goal is self-sufficiency, and not seeking other public assistance. Receiving this car will open the door to many more job opportunities with better pay, ultimately allowing her to support her children, secure permanent housing, and reunite her family here in Fargo-Moorhead.

Big thanks to the vehicle donors and the volunteer teams for lifting this young mother out of a desperate situation and placing her on the road to success.
