DONATE MONEY

Matthew Carlson, August 29 2022

Car donation #355.

This vehicle went to a single mother working with our partner YWCA Cass Clay.

She is currently staying at the YWCA with her two children. She recently lost her good job in Wahpeton, ND which made it impossible to make her rent leading to her and her two girls to homelessness.

She is trying to survive the best way she knows how especially coming from a long history of domestic violence and multigenerational abuse. It’s heartbreaking to hear her youngest children understanding their homeless situation. She has been working tirelessly to find a job and housing. She faces transportation issues currently. With the long bus rides and her children in school, it makes it very difficult for her to complete these important steps in her journey towards improving her life.

Her barriers are not stopping her from being motivated to take care of herself and her children. Her transportation barriers are stopping her from fully moving forward. With the gift of this vehicle, she can continue to support her family by driving her daughter to much needed counseling appointment due to past abuse.

Her daughters are involved in after school activities. Independent transportation would also support her in being able to go to those activities and pick up her children as well as stop them from walking to the grocery store.

Many thanks to the family that donated this very clean vehicle and to our volunteers for performing the repairs to get this vehicle in the hands of this determined mother.
