Car #387 has been donated! This vehicle went to a gentleman working with Community Options Inc.
In 2020 he moved to North Dakota from New York. due to the closures, specifically the health clubs. He was working as a Group Fitness Trainer for a franchise. He transferred to the Fargo location and six months later was laid off due.
He then in his words "spiraled downward." He became homeless in Fargo, but continued to look for work. He had lost all hope, gave up, admitting that this difficult time had taken its toll, causing severe depression.
He then was connected with Community Options, quickly regaining hope. During this transition, with very hard work and a dedication to his care plan goals, life had begun to turn around.
He recently began working for UPS and loves it! It is a four mile commute to his new job. It is very expensive to utilize rideshare plus, he does not want to keep asking for bus passes from Community Options. He wants to take another step in being self-sufficient through independent transportation.
Kandy Jenkins, care provider with Community Options, provides compelling testimony. "When I first started working with this client, he was depressed and he was very hard to find, due to his homeless situation. However, he did want his goals to be accomplished and over the last year, I have seen an amazing lift in his attitude and his desire to work.
He has shared that UPS often asks him to fill in for workers who have called in sick, but riding his bike so much, is draining, so he has to turn down this extra ability to work."
We hope this gift of a donated vehicle will help keep this gentleman on the road to success here in Fargo-Moorhead!Many thanks to our volunteer teams and our financial supporters whose generosity allows us to do this important work.
